## How Thailand Taxes Your Income

Thailand taxes personal income progressively across multiple bands. The first 150,000 THB is tax-free. Rates then begin at 5% and increase progressively up to a top rate of 35% on income exceeding 4,000,000 THB.

In addition to income tax, employees in Thailand are required to contribute 5% of their salary to the Social Security Fund, capped at a maximum of 750 THB per month \(9,000 THB annually\). These mandatory contributions go toward benefits such as healthcare, unemployment, and retirement.

### Frequently Asked Questions

#### What is the maximum Social Security contribution in Thailand?

For salaried employees, the mandatory Social Security Fund \(SSF\) contribution is 5% of your gross monthly salary. However, the contribution is capped at a maximum salary base of 15,000 THB, meaning the maximum deduction is 750 THB per month \(or 9,000 THB annually\).

#### How much is the personal allowance for income tax in Thailand?

Every taxpayer in Thailand is entitled to a standard personal allowance of 60,000 THB. Additionally, there is a standard deduction of 50% of your assessable income, capped at 100,000 THB, which is automatically applied before calculating your income tax.

#### At what income level do I start paying tax in Thailand?

Under Thailand's progressive tax brackets, your first 150,000 THB of net taxable income is entirely exempt from income tax. Factoring in the standard deduction and personal allowance, you generally do not pay any income tax if your gross annual salary is below 310,000 THB.
